Scientific Focus

Cellular communication is fundamental to the organization and function of the organism, and extracellular vesicles (EVs) have recently emerged as a novel class of messengers enabling the transfer of complex molecular information between cells. Our research focuses on extracellular vesicles (EVs) as mediators of intercellular communication between the brain and periphery. We aim to understand how EV-mediated signaling shapes neural function under physiological conditions and in response to systemic and neurological challenges such as inflammation or neurodegenerative diseases. To address this, we use genetic tracing approaches (Cre–LoxP-based systems) to visualize and quantify the functional transfer of EV cargo in vivo.
