About us

The ICNF represents a consortium of over 60 research groups in Frankfurt, Germany. These belong to the Faculties of Medicine, Biological Sciences, Psychology and Sport Science, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science, Mathematics and Physics and in addition to the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research, the Max-Planck-Institute for Empirical Aesthetics, the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysics, the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) and the Ernst-Strüngmann-Institute (ESI).

The general purpose of the ICNF is the promotion of neurosciences in Frankfurt, with the goal of leading neuroscientific research and education in Frankfurt towards scientific excellence.

This is going to be fostered by:

  • Encouraging the exchange of ideas and cooperation of members from the different fields.
  • Public relations work to promote the visibility of the Frankfurt neurosciences
  • Promotion of young researchers, including organisation of the Master’s program “Interdisciplinary Neuroscience”
  • International cooperation in the field of neuroscience.

The ICNF is a member of the cross-county research network rhine-main neuroscience network.
